Qantas is set to resume Delhi to Melbourne nonstop flights from October 27, 2025, catering to the sharp rise in India–Australia travel among tourists, students, and cricket fans.

The service, suspended earlier this year due to aircraft allocation issues, will operate three times a week until March 28, 2026. The route will be served by Airbus A330-200 aircraft, featuring 26 lie-flat Business suites and 204 Economy seats. All fares include checked baggage, meals, beverages, and in-flight entertainment.

Why the Relaunch Matters

The timing aligns with Australia’s peak season and major sporting events, such as the T20 series, the Ashes, and the Big Bash League, which are expected to draw thousands of Indian visitors.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said, “Flying direct significantly reduces travel time to Australia, and these new flights are perfectly suited for Indian fans attending cricket events in Melbourne.”

To strengthen its foothold in the Indian market, Qantas has also opened new offices in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The airline expects the reinstated service to add more than 30,000 seats over the season, underlining its confidence in Qantas’ India-Australia flights as a growth driver.

Delhi–Melbourne Air Travel Back on Track

When Qantas paused the service earlier in 2025, Air India became the only carrier offering direct connections between the two cities. The latter, however, also suspended its Melbourne–Mumbai flights for part of the year, limiting options for Indian travellers.

With the relaunch, Qantas restores vital capacity in Delhi-Melbourne air travel, offering a faster and more convenient alternative to one-stop connections via Singapore or Hong Kong.

Added Advantages for Indian Travellers

Beyond nonstop connectivity, Qantas passengers can take advantage of Qantas Explorer fares, which provide discounted add-ons to over 100 domestic routes in Australia. Popular onward destinations include Sydney, Cairns, the Gold Coast, and Tasmania — a strong draw for Indian tourists planning multi-city itineraries.

Qantas’ decision to relaunch nonstop flights between Delhi and Melbourne highlights the airline’s renewed commitment to one of its fastest-growing international markets. For Indian travellers, the nonstop service not only saves time but also reinforces Australia’s appeal as a leading destination for leisure, education, and sport.
