Thailand is set to introduce a 300-baht (approximately ₹767) Thailand tourism fee for foreign visitors by the end of 2025, according to an announcement from Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong on February 27, 2025.
The Thailand entry fee, which applies to all travelers entering by air, land, or sea, will be implemented during the peak travel season.
The revenue generated from this initiative will be allocated toward enhancing tourist safety, including life and accident insurance coverage for visitors. The Thai government expects this measure will not discourage tourism due to the relatively low cost of the Thailand visitor tax.
Several foreign embassies have reportedly supported the plan, which aligns with broader efforts to improve travel security and infrastructure.

The new fee for Thailand tourists will be integrated with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), a system designed to modernize entry procedures. The TDAC is set to launch on May 1, 2025, and will serve as a digital entry card for all foreign arrivals. Visitors will pay the Thailand travel fee at entry registration, ensuring a seamless collection process.
A provision allows multiple re-entries within 30 to 60 days without requiring an additional payment for travelers entering by land or sea. This policy will benefit frequent visitors and cross-border travelers while maintaining efficient fee collection.
Previous Attempts and Future Impact
Despite some concerns, Minister Thienthong remains confident that the minor expense will not deter travelers from choosing Thailand as their destination. With record numbers of tourists expected in the coming years, the additional funding could play a crucial role in sustaining the country’s reputation as a leading travel hub while helping to offset Thailand’s travel costs.
