The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Delhi-NCR weather alert with an orange warning for Delhi after heavy morning showers eased humidity across the region. Officials say more rain is expected through the weekend, creating challenges for commuters and air travelers.

Rain Forecast for NCR

According to the forecast, Delhi severe weather update reports indicate light rain with thunderstorms on August 30, followed by heavier downpours on August 31.

Monsoon showers and cloudy skies will likely stretch into early September across Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida. Daytime temperatures are projected between 30 and 34°C, with lows of 22 to 26°C.

The alert comes as NCR weather conditions have already led to traffic disruptions and waterlogging in parts of the city. Authorities urged residents to allow extra time for travel and remain cautious on flooded roads.

IndiGo Travel Advisory for Flight Passengers

Airlines have also begun issuing guidance. IndiGo released a travel advisory, reminding passengers to check flight details and plan ahead.

“The skies over Delhi are bringing in some light showers today. While there is no major impact on roads yet, travel may be slower in a few areas. If you are on your way to the airport, please plan ahead and check your flight details in advance using our app or website,” the airline posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 120 (Moderate) on Thursday, marking a 49-point rise over the previous day, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. Levels are expected to remain in the moderate range in the coming days.

Authorities have repeated the Delhi travel warning, advising passengers to:

  • Check airline apps or websites for schedule changes
  • Leave early for the airport to avoid delays
  • Carry rain protection and remain flexible with plans

Further updates will be issued if conditions worsen.
