Digi Yatra, an innovative platform utilizing airport facial recognition technology for contactless passenger processing, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10 million users.

Launched in December 2022, the platform has facilitated over 45 million seamless journeys across 24 airports in India, highlighting its growing popularity among travelers. This achievement underscores travel innovation in India as the country continues to embrace digital transformation in aviation.

The platform’s success is evident with an average of 30,000 daily app downloads, signaling a strong adoption rate among passengers seeking an enhanced digital travel experience with faster, hassle-free airport processes.

Digi Yatra’s Impact on Seamless Airport Check-Ins

By integrating airport facial recognition, Digi Yatra eliminates the need for physical IDs and boarding passes, making airport navigation smoother and reducing wait times. The platform ensures seamless airport check-in, allowing passengers to move effortlessly from entry to boarding.

Reflecting on this accomplishment, Suresh Khadakbhavi, CEO of Digi Yatra Foundation, stated, “The 10 million user milestone reflects the trust and confidence that our users have placed in us. Our efforts, including the ‘d-KYC’ campaign initiative, helped us drive growth in 2024. We aim to maintain the momentum of innovation, privacy, and evolution of the passenger experience to achieve even greater breakthroughs in the future.”

He added, “Our partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the IATA One-ID X Digi Yatra for enablement of Digi Yatra for International flow will drive further growth in 2025.”

What’s Next? Expansion and Global Integration

Looking ahead, Digi Yatra plans to expand its services by supporting all 22 official Indian languages, breaking language barriers, and ensuring that every traveler can easily navigate airport processes.

Additionally, the platform intends to conduct an international pilot project, allowing foreign passengers with electronic passports (e-passports) to experience its seamless airport check-in ecosystem.

This accomplishment aligns with Digi Yatra’s vision to digitalize all touchpoints at airports, enhancing the overall passenger experience through technological innovation. As Digi Yatra milestone achievements continue, India moves closer to a fully automated and tech-driven aviation future.
