Japan Airlines (JAL) will resume daily nonstop service between Tokyo Narita International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport starting January 17, 2026. The move marks a major step in strengthening Japan and India’s air connectivity, linking two nations with growing economic and cultural ties.
Japan Airlines Relaunching India Flights
The relaunched Japan Airlines Delhi route will complement JAL’s existing Tokyo-Delhi flights from Haneda, as well as its Narita–Bengaluru service, giving passengers more choice and flexibility. The route will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 787, known for efficiency, reliability, and enhanced passenger comfort on long-haul journeys.
With the return of these daily Tokyo Narita flights, JAL aims to boost its presence in South Asia while meeting the rising demand from both business and leisure travelers.

Codeshare with IndiGo Expands Reach in India
The relaunch coincides with a strategic codeshare partnership with IndiGo, India’s largest airline. Through this agreement, travelers can book single-ticket itineraries that seamlessly combine JAL’s international routes with IndiGo’s domestic network.
This collaboration will enable connections from Delhi to up to 18 destinations across India. “We are delighted to introduce new options for connectivity between India and Japan,” said Abhijit DasGupta of IndiGo. “This codeshare agreement will further strengthen business, trade, and tourism-related travel between India and Japan.”
Boosting Bilateral Ties Through Air Connectivity
Ross Leggett, JAL’s Managing Executive Officer & Senior VP of Route Marketing, emphasized the airline’s long-term vision: “This addition underscores our commitment to providing more travel options and seamless connectivity between Japan and India.”
The return of Tokyo to Delhi flights is expected to play a vital role in facilitating trade, education, and tourism, while reinforcing Narita Airport’s role as a hub for South Asian travel.
