The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple management committee has issued an advisory requesting local devotees to delay their visits by 15 to 20 days due to an overwhelming surge in pilgrims.

This influx is largely attributed to the ongoing Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, which has significantly increased the number of visitors traveling to Ayodhya to seek blessings at the recently inaugurated temple. The advisory highlights the importance of planning an Ayodhya Pilgrimage strategically.

With Mauni Amavasya’s ‘Mukhya Snan’ (main bathing ritual) scheduled for January 29, 2025, an estimated 10 crore devotees are expected to take a holy dip in Prayagraj.

Many of these pilgrims are extending their religious journey to Ayodhya, causing logistical challenges and long wait times for the darshan of Shri Ram Lalla.

Temple Visit Advisory Issued

The temple administration has noted an exponential rise in devotees over the past three days, making it increasingly difficult to ensure a smooth darshan experience for everyone. As a precautionary measure, the management has urged local devotees to temporarily defer their visits to ease the strain on facilities and allow those traveling from afar a better opportunity for worship.

“We humbly request devotees from nearby areas to plan their visit to Ayodhya 15 to 20 days later. This will ensure convenience for everyone and prevent overcrowding,” the advisory stated.

Shri Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Trust, emphasized the need for crowd management, citing the unprecedented number of devotees in Ayodhya. He further advised local devotees to consider visiting after Basant Panchami (February 2), when the weather is expected to be more pleasant and the crowd size more manageable. This aligns with the best time to visit Ram Mandir for a more comfortable experience.

State Authorities Step Up Kumbh Mela Crowd Management

In response, the Uttar Pradesh government has intensified security and logistical preparations for the Kumbh Mela Crowd Management and the connected influx into Ayodhya.

The ‘Amrit Snan’ on Mauni Amavasya alone is expected to attract 10 crore pilgrims to Prayagraj daily. Over the first 17 days of the Kumbh Mela 2025, more than 15 crore devotees have already participated in the sacred bathing ritual.

Held every 12 years, the Kumbh Mela 2025 began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. The Uttar Pradesh government estimates a total footfall of 40 to 45 crore pilgrims throughout the festival, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

With many pilgrims expected to travel from Prayagraj to Ayodhya after their holy dip, authorities work tirelessly to accommodate the overwhelming numbers while ensuring a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience.

The temple management and state administration remain committed to facilitating a smooth pilgrimage journey. Devotees are encouraged to follow the Ayodhya travel advisory and adhere to the guidelines to avoid inconvenience.
